Having remixed for the likes of Coldplay, Imogen Heap & Leigh Nash (to name a few), Morgan steps from behind the boards of producer and into the shoes of an “artist”. His Nettwerk debut “Elevate” is due in March & first single “Longest Road (Ft. Lissie)” is already causing quiet a buzz. With electronic music that is emotional in texture (think BT), Page is someone to watch. Check out his remixing skills at their best with Regina Spektor’s “Fidelity” (in the download section).

A lot can change in a day. Yesterday, I was perusing blogs and came across one talking about a certain artist, which used to be the frontman of one of my favorite 90s rock groups. Then, later that day, I went to Barnes & Noble and noticed the guy being featured in a magazine. That was two signs, you could say, which was enough for me to do my research. Enter, Emerson Hart. Former lead singer of the band, Tonic, which brought you, now-nostalgic pop/rock songs such as, “If You Could Only See,” “You Wanted More,” and “Mean To Me” to name favorite singles of mine. Has the music industry changed in 24 hours, or will this be something that send large record companies running for cover for the next several weeks and months as the ripple effect continues to wash over the web and our eardrums?
Regardless of where you stand on the “Industry” (this can have ramifications on the smaller “more fun” labels as well) we want to know your thoughts. So sound off!
Did you get “In Rainbows”?
What did you pay?
What do you think?
Is this shaping digital music culture?
Let us know in the comments what you think.

There’s nothing coincidental about Jimmy Tamborello’s music. Whether he’s on the 1’s and the 2’s collaborating with Ben Gibbard and Jenny Lewis as the Postal Service or one of the many incarnations of Figurine (see also, James Figurine, Dublab). This is a fairly long awaited release for those of us around the offices here’s a little inside scoop.
Taken from the recent press release:
With vocal contributions from friends Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley), Edward Droste (Grizzly Bear), Valerie Trebeljahr and Markus Acher (Lali Puna), Mia Doi Todd, Grant Olsen and Sonya Westcott (Arthur & Yu), Andrew Broder (Fog), Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) and Christopher and Jennifer Gunst (Mystic Chords of Memory), the organic instrumentation by Chris Hathwell (drummer, Moving Units) and Paul Larson (guitarist, The Minor Canon)

This week THE DROP welcomes Coury Palermo to it’s writing staff. I’ve had a chance to get to know Coury both professionally (he’s in a stellar band, Lynden. We’ve talked about them before.) and personally (he’s swell) and I’m really excited to have him as part of the crew.
For his role with THE DROP, he’s going to be reporting and giving us the lowdown from music capital, Nashville Tennesee. Heading up columns/features like:
Freshly Mixed - A column that features new and undiscovered music via an iTunes playlist.
Past/Present - A feature that reviews albums that were largely overlooked in the mainstream but deserve an audience.
I don’t want to wreck all the surprises but professionally Lynden is going to have a massive year - more info to follow on all of the Lynden goings on soon.
The Drop is still looking for music editors - if you think you’ve got the moxy to submit on a regular basis, shoot me an email - info@thedroponline.com
