The latest release from Silversun Pickups is out today (Amazon has got it for cheap) and I’ve got it on repeat. This is one of the more anticipated releases for 2009 for me. Mainly due to the fact that their 2007 release “Carnavas” was my all time favorite album of the year.
Clocking in just under an hour, Swoon shows that the Silversun Pickups hasn’t lost a step and actually picked up speed. Their second release on Dangerbird, each track is enveloped in fuzzy goodness for a true odyssey through space that has to be experienced to be understood. The strings the arrangements by Will Canzoneri (Darker My Love) bring the music to a whole new level – specifically on “The Royal We”.
There live shows are becoming legendary, including their recent face melting performance at Pomona’s Glass House. I envy those in Indio for Coachella this coming weekend. Produced by Dave Cooley (Bloc Party, International Noise Conspiracy) Swoon brings the goods and doesn’t let you down. I highly recommend picking this album up.
