My love for the personal and documented journey of life has led me to a disturbing yet extremely entertaining film. I know we here at THE DROP are known for our informed (sarcasm) and relevant musical commentary but today I bring you a taste of the visual. “Overnight” is the documentary of Troy Duffy, an up and coming film maker who is on the brink of superstardom – if you ask him. I can not stress the level of vanity that is involved in this soon-to-be-cult-classic. At times you believe you are watching a scripted farce due to the nature of Troy’s outlandish behavior. It becomes apparent by minute 11 that all this bravado is clearly overcompensation for – well, you get where I’m going. I have never been more entertained nor loathed a complete stranger more – until now. Indie film lovers – google your way to complete and utter bliss. If you are interested in a great docuDRAMA or just want to laugh yourself silly, IFC is currently running this masterpiece – check your local listings for time and channel.
